Climate change threatens Malaysian rice production, food security in jeopardy by 2030.
Climate change is affecting rice production in Malaysia. The study used a model to predict how temperature and rainfall changes will impact rice yields until 2030. Results show that increasing temperatures and changing rainfall patterns will reduce rice yields by 12% during the main growing season and by 31.3% during the off season over the next 18 years. This could have significant implications for Malaysia's food security and economy.
