Polluted Rivers Cleaned Up as China Implements "River Chief" System
The River Chief System in Liaoning Province helped improve water quality in the Liaohe River Basin from 2008 to 2012. The system led to a significant increase in the V-class compliance rate, showing better water quality compared to the Haihe River Basin. The study used data from 2006-2012 to analyze the impact of the River Chief System on water pollution prevention and control. The results suggest that the implementation of the system brought about positive changes in water quality, with the Liaohe River Basin seeing a notable increase in meeting V-type water quality requirements.
