The study looked at how the port logistics in Shanghai affect the region's economic growth. By analyzing data from 1990 to 2017, they found that there is a strong connection between cargo and container throughput at the port and the overall economy. The results show that the amount of cargo passing through the port influences economic growth, but not the other way around. This means that the port's activities play a significant role in driving the region's economic development.
