Sediment study reveals East China Sea's hidden transport patterns.
The study analyzed sediment samples from the Zhejiang nearshore area in the East China Sea to understand sediment transport patterns. The area is mostly clayey silt with coarse mud in the southeast. Sediment is poorly sorted and transported southward in winter due to the Zhejiang–Fujian Coastal Current. In summer, sediment transport is mainly northward because of the ZMCC and the Taiwan Warm Current. The sedimentation rate is influenced by sediment transport processes and can indicate sediment source and transportation.
