Audit Committee Oversight Boosts Fraud Detection, Safeguarding Businesses and Investors
The study looked at how the interaction between internal auditors and audit committees in Malaysia affects fraud detection. They focused on two main interactions: audit committees approving chief audit executives and reviewing internal auditors' work. Survey questionnaires were sent to internal auditors in 782 companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. The results showed that when audit committees are involved in reviewing internal auditors' work, it significantly improves fraud detection, but their approval of chief audit executives doesn't have much impact.
