The goal of the study was to figure out how the mining sector in Iran produces things. They looked at data from 1976 to 2006 and found that the sector relies a lot on both machines and workers. The more machines and workers they use, the more stuff they can make. They also found that when new technology is introduced, it helps the sector produce even more.
