The article looks at why some people in Germany earn low wages. They used data from a big survey to see how individual, company, and industry factors affect low wages. They found that individual characteristics don't explain much of the differences in low-wage jobs. Factors related to the companies and industries where people work are more important. Some things that seem to make people more likely to have low wages actually don't matter once you consider where they work.
