Regret more likely seen as result of action than inaction.
The study looked at how people perceive regret differently depending on whether they took action or did nothing. They did four experiments with students from Hong Kong and the US. They found that people are more likely to think regret comes from taking action rather than not acting. This idea held true both before and after knowing the outcome. Regret also made people see not acting as less normal compared to taking action.
