Severe drought vulnerability mapped in Iran's Khuzestan province.
The researchers used a method called the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) to study drought in Khuzestan province in Iran. They looked at data from 17 weather stations to see where drought was most severe. By combining different criteria like drought severity and trends, they created a map showing areas at risk of drought. The map revealed that severe drought areas cover 29% of the province, mainly in the northern and central parts. Moderate drought risk was found in 64% of the province.
