Age-Related Macular Degeneration Linked to Higher Rates of Anxiety and Depression.
The study looked at how age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is linked to anxiety and depression. They analyzed data from over 51,000 patients and found that 18.2% of AMD patients had anxiety, and 25.0% had depression. Patients with AMD are 1.3 times more likely to have anxiety and depression compared to those without AMD. The study suggests that eye doctors should consider screening for mental health issues in AMD patients.
