New Equation for Thermal Comfort in Chinese Environments Improves Living Conditions
Thermal comfort is how comfortable we feel in the temperature around us. Our body's heat balance is affected by things like air temperature, humidity, and what we wear. The current standards for predicting comfort indoors are ISO 7730-2005 and ASHRAE 55-2013. However, these standards may not fully match how people in China feel. A study tested how different ages of Chinese people feel in different temperatures. The results showed that the standard equation for comfort may need to be adjusted to better fit Chinese people's feelings in different temperatures.
