New rice varieties and farming methods boost yields, improve livelihoods in Kashmir
A study was conducted to compare different ways of growing rice in Kashmir. They tested a new method called SRI, along with traditional methods like DSR and RM. SRI showed the best results, improving plant growth, photosynthesis, and nutrient uptake. Overall, SRI, DSR, and RM increased grain yield by 22%, 14%, and 6% compared to FP. Among the new rice varieties tested, SR-1 and SR-2 had higher yields than Jhelum, with SR-2 being the most profitable.
