Organic fertilization and zinc application boost rice yield and efficiency.
Zinc deficiency and low organic matter in soil are common issues in rice farming, especially in Egypt. To address this, researchers tested using compost and different levels of zinc in soil on rice growth and yield. They found that using compost led to taller plants, higher grain and straw yields, and better nitrogen uptake and efficiency. Increasing zinc levels in soil also improved these outcomes. Combining compost and zinc had the best results, increasing grain yield by 12.31% and straw yield by 17.55%. This approach even worked well in salty soil conditions, enhancing nitrogen uptake and efficiency.
