Unsustainable land practices threaten global food security and environmental stability.
Land resources are crucial for human survival, with 95% of the world's population relying on them. In India, the rural economy is mainly agricultural. However, increasing population and desire for better living conditions are putting pressure on land, leading to conflicts. The plateau fringe areas of West Bengal have diverse geological formations, affecting human activities. Sustainable land management aims to balance production with conservation and regulation to prevent unsustainable practices. By using GIS and quantitative analysis, different land elements are integrated to develop sustainable land units. This research is important for geographers, environmental scientists, administrators, and researchers to ensure the long-term health of our land resources.
