New brinjal genotypes promise higher yields and more fruits per plant!
The study looked at genetic differences in 44 types of brinjal plants. They found that the plants could be grouped into seven clusters based on their characteristics. The biggest differences were seen between clusters III and VII, while clusters III and IV were most similar. The main factors contributing to the differences were how much each plant yielded and how many fruits it produced. By choosing plants from clusters III and VII for breeding, new and unique plant varieties could be created.
