Rice straw ash boosts compost quality, reduces pollution from food waste.
The researchers studied how mixing rice straw ash and food waste at different ratios affects compost quality. They wanted to see how the initial carbon to nitrogen ratios (C:N) of 20, 25, and 30 would impact the composting process. They found that a C:N ratio of 30 led to higher temperatures for longer periods, which helps kill pathogens. This ratio also resulted in the best final C:N ratio and germination index. The pH and moisture content of the compost mixtures were within the ideal range for mature compost.
