Soil management practices impact water retention and soil quality in Iran.
The study looked at how different soil management practices affect soil quality in semi-arid climates. They tested eight treatments, including different tillage methods and soil additives, in Iran. They found that water content was affected by compacted soil at a depth of 0-25 cm. However, the soil water retention curve parameters were similar across treatments. The software used to estimate water conductivity gave lower values than measured. Overall, soil texture and structure were consistent across treatments, suggesting that changes in pore size distribution could impact water retention and transmission in the long term.
