The article investigated water scarcity in a region of north China with a large population and limited natural water sources. By creating a model incorporating water supply and demand factors, the study predicted future population growth and total water availability. The researchers proposed using a combination of wastewater recycling and water transfer projects to alleviate water scarcity. By implementing these interventions and refining the supply-demand model, it is expected that by 2020, water shortages in the area will be reduced.
