New technology extracts cosmetic ingredients from microalgae for skincare revolution!
The researchers aimed to develop a method to extract cosmetic ingredients from a microalgae called Chlorella Vulgaris. They used enzymes to break down the algae's cell wall and found that a combination of cellulase, pectinase, and protease enzymes worked best. Factors like the ratio of raw material to extractant, extraction duration and temperature, and type of extractant were studied. The most important factor for extracting water-soluble protein was the pre-treatment of the algae with enzymes. They determined the best conditions for extracting water and water-glycerin extracts from Chlorella Vulgaris. Additionally, they created cosmetic product formulations using these new natural extracts.
