Design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) is crucial in product design and development. By incorporating DFMA methodology into the design-manufacture-assembly (DMA) system, the need for rework can be reduced, leading to improved product development performance. A case study showed that applying DFMA early in the design process resulted in a prototype that was manufactured and assembled without requiring modifications later on. This approach can enhance the performance of complex design systems, such as product design and development.
