Tidal currents in Mandeh Bay triggering sediment distribution and environmental degradation.
The study focused on understanding tidal currents in Mandeh Bay during the southwest monsoon. Researchers used a hydrodynamic model to analyze the flow patterns, finding that offshore tidal currents form elliptical patterns every 6 hours and 12 minutes. The strongest currents were observed at the bay mouth, with semidiurnal currents dominating and potentially impacting sediment distribution in the bay. Diurnal tidal currents were also present but at lower speeds compared to semidiurnal currents. Overall, the study aimed to provide insights into how tidal currents influence transport processes in the bay.
