44.1% of Tigray Region at High Drought Risk Levels, Study Finds.
The study analyzed drought risk in Tigray, Ethiopia using climate and socioeconomic data. They found that 44.1% of districts had high to very high drought risk levels. Despite this, there was no significant variation in risk between districts. The study showed that drought risk was clustered in the western, eastern, and southern zones of the region. This highlights the importance of combining climate and socioeconomic data for effective drought management planning.
