Drought-prone regions can now better predict and manage water runoff
The study focused on understanding how water runoff works in areas with limited soil water storage. Researchers developed a new model called VLRM that uses variable soil water storage capacity to predict runoff. By simulating flood events in North China, they found that the VLRM model performed better than the traditional Xinanjiang model. This approach improves our ability to predict and manage water runoff in regions with low soil water storage.
