Urban lakeside pollution levels require drastic reductions for ecosystem restoration
Urban lakesides in China, like Lake Taihu, are facing serious water pollution due to increased human activities. A study calculated the pollution reduction needed to restore the lake's water quality. They found that significant reductions in nitrogen, phosphorus, and other pollutants are necessary to meet water quality goals. Certain rivers, like Liangxi and Maligang, play a crucial role in reducing pollution in the area. Interestingly, pollution levels were higher during the rainy season.
