Boosting Rice Yields in Saline Soils with Potassium Fertilization
Researchers conducted a field trial to see how adding potassium to soil and spraying it on rice plants grown in salty soil affects their growth. They found that using 36 kg of potassium per field, along with spraying 2% potassium, led to taller plants, more leaves, faster growth, and higher yields of rice grains and straw. This treatment also increased the amount of potassium in the plants and improved their overall health. However, plants sprayed with just water had higher levels of proline and sodium, which are not as good for the plants.
