GCC countries face food security challenges despite robust fiscal position.
Food security in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is a big concern. These countries have been very good at importing food when needed, but they faced challenges during the global food crisis in 2007-2008. The GCC countries need to focus on producing more food locally to be more secure. However, they have limited water and poor soil for farming. They also face the risk of not being able to get enough food even if they have money to buy it. To improve food security, the GCC countries should work on sustainable agriculture that uses resources efficiently.
