Farmers in South Odisha Boost Crop Yields with Innovative Intercropping Techniques
Intercropping sunflower with groundnut and blackgram in different ratios during the summer season in South Odisha can increase yield attributes like number of seeds per plant and seed weight. The experiment at Bagusala Farm showed that a 1:1 ratio of sunflower and groundnut resulted in the highest seed yield of 1495.7 kg/ha. This cropping pattern also led to higher monetary benefits and net returns. Overall, intercropping sunflower with legumes can improve productivity in sandy loam soils during the summer season.
