Yangtze River Runoff Decreasing Due to Human Activity and Climate Change
The upper reaches of the Yangtze River have been experiencing less water flow since the 1990s. This study looked at different parts of the river to see which areas were contributing the most to the decrease in water flow. They found that the Jialing River and the mainstream watersheds were the main reasons for the decrease in water flow. The main cause of this decrease was a lack of rainfall, followed by increased water consumption and water loss from reservoirs.
