Revolutionary steam explosion process boosts sugar release from rice straw!
The researchers studied how different sizes of rice straw and soaking it in water or acid affected the amount of sugar released during steam explosion treatment. They found that using 10 mm straw soaked in acid and treated at 180 °C gave the highest sugar conversion. Water-soaked straw had lower conversion but improved with higher temperatures. Overall, they achieved 30.6–81.1% sugar recovery with or without acid treatment.
