Reservoir Restoration Fails to Improve Water Quality, Highlights Need for Targeted Interventions
A study looked at ways to improve water quality in a large reservoir in China. They used a computer model to test different restoration methods. They found that reducing pollution from outside sources greatly improved water quality. Also, evenly distributing water flow from two rivers into the reservoir helped the most. Simply increasing water flow didn't have the same positive effect. This research can help make large reservoirs cleaner and healthier for the environment.
