Extreme Temperatures Threaten Electric Vehicle Batteries, Jeopardizing Sustainability Goals
Electric vehicles (EVs) face challenges due to battery temperature affecting performance. Lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) age faster outside optimal temperature range, especially in cold weather. To improve battery health, state parameter estimation and thermal management must be considered together. Solutions must be suitable for online use, scalable to battery packs, and adaptable to normal battery cycling. The best methods involve combining thermal and electric models with adaptive filtering, and using recurrent neural network techniques.
