Coastal farmers boost crop yields, slash water use with new irrigation methods
The study looked at how different ways of watering crops in new areas along the coast of Jiangsu affect their growth. They studied watermelon, green pepper, and rice, and found that drip-irrigation and micro-spray irrigation can save a lot of water compared to normal watering. With these methods, 39.2% less water is needed, and the crops still grow well. This kind of water-saving irrigation can help deal with the lack of fresh water in these new areas.
