Western-Himalayan forest study reveals surprising plant diversity patterns.
The study looked at different plant species in a Western-Himalayan forest. They divided the area into four parts based on aspects like altitude and vegetation. Certain plants like Quercusleucotrichophora and Rhododendron arboreum were common in most areas, but Pinus roxburghii was dominant in one site. The density of plants varied, with herbs having the highest diversity. Site IV had the most diversity for trees and shrubs, while site II had the most diverse herbs. Sites III and IV were similar, while sites I and IV were least similar. Most sites showed competition among species.
