Ancient Yellow River Delta Shifts Revealed, Coastal Areas at Risk!
The Yellow River delta in Mengcun has changed over time, with different parts being formed at different periods. The coast in northern Shandong Province was affected by the Yellow River multiple times between 700 BC and AD 1099, leading to land formation between 893 and 1048. Shell ridges along the coast were created after AD 1128, with erosion occurring behind them due to waves and tides. The delta plain experienced changes after the delta superlobe was abandoned. The southern boundary of the Northern Jiangsu delta superlobe is in Jiangsu Province. The idea of a major channel shift in 602 BC is no longer accepted by experts.
