Optimal Phosphorus Levels Boost Growth and Photosynthesis in Algae.
Phosphorus levels affect the growth and photosynthesis of Chlorella sp. The study tested different phosphorus concentrations on the algae and found that 36.3 μM was the best for their growth. When phosphorus was added to starved Chlorella sp., their chlorophyll fluorescence changed, but it recovered within 24 hours after adding back the missing nutrient.
