The study looked at the different types of plants in a Salix shrub community in the east Qilian mountain area. They found that diversity was higher in the herb layer than the shrub layer, with the most diversity at certain altitudes. They also discovered that cutting down the Salix shrubs actually increased the variety of species in the area.
