New Bayesian model selection tool improves ecological hypothesis discrimination and parameter estimation.
The article explores different tools for choosing the best model in ecological studies. They focused on Bayesian models for tracking animals in different habitats. After testing 25 tools on simulated data, they found that when data is limited, no single tool is perfect for both model selection and estimating population size. However, the Bayes Factor method they used performed well overall. This study shows that even with new tools available, sticking to well-founded methods can still give good results.
