The Edong Changjiang River Highway Bridge was designed using a unique semi-floating system hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge with double pylons and double cable planes. The main girder was made of separated twin boxes, with a steel box girder for the central span and prestressed concrete box girders for the side spans. A steel and concrete joint section was used for smooth transition between the materials. The cable-to-pylon anchorage was a steel anchor box structure in the pylon column. To enhance durability, reinforced concrete and corrosion protection measures were implemented. Inspection and maintenance accesses were provided for all bridge components, with specific criteria and requirements outlined.
