A new gas drainage method was tested in a high gassy coal mine. By using a combination of surface borehole gas drainage, shield gas drainage, and boreholes along the seam, the gas drainage rate was significantly improved. The gas drainage value increased from 18.28 m3/min to 184.00 m3/min, with a total gas drainage value of 37.830 81 million m3 and a gas drainage rate of 49%. This method effectively reduced gas levels in the coal mining face and ensured safe and efficient coal mining operations.
