Cow-dung boosts fish growth, doubling yields and improving water quality.
A study tested the effect of adding cow dung to fish ponds on the growth of major carp species. The cow dung was added daily based on its nitrogen content. The treated ponds showed significant increases in fish weight and length compared to the control ponds. The plankton levels and fish yield were also higher in the treated ponds. The study found a positive correlation between water temperature, plankton levels, and fish growth. Overall, the ponds with cow dung had a higher fish yield of major carps compared to the control ponds.
