Water resources in Shandong and Henan Provinces are unevenly distributed, leading to poor water safety in most cities. By using computer simulations and flow analysis, researchers found that only one city out of 34 has safe water resources. Yantai City has the highest demand for water, while Xinyang has the best water security situation and does not need artificial water allocation. Understanding water flow is crucial for assessing regional water security, and a flow-based interbasin water transfer plan can help improve water allocation in water-deficient areas.
