Alliance-learning boosts performance: Small firms coordinate, large firms seek knowledge.
The study looked at how different types of learning activities in alliances affect the performance of small and large high-tech firms. They found that seeking knowledge about a partner and coordinating with a partner positively impact alliance performance. Interestingly, the effect of these activities varied based on firm size: coordinating with a partner was most beneficial for small firms, while seeking knowledge about a partner was most beneficial for large firms.
