Maize and peanut intercropping in China increased maize yield by 61% and improved photosynthesis, resulting in more kernels per ear. The intercropping system also enhanced light conditions for maize, leading to better growth and higher grain yield. Peanut yield slightly decreased, but overall, the intercropping method showed potential for boosting productivity and improving land use efficiency.
