Transforming Cities: Urban Agriculture Boosts Sustainability and Community Development
Urban agriculture can help cities become more sustainable and resilient by providing economic opportunities, food security, and environmental benefits. This study explores different types of urban agriculture, like geoponics and aquaponics, to create productive public spaces in urban areas. By involving communities in the process, these spaces can improve the urban landscape and meet the needs of local residents. The research conducted in Shanghai, China, shows that involving the community in creating agricultural spaces can increase urban sustainability and address socioeconomic needs. Architecture students are aware of the importance of environmental limits and are interested in creating sustainable urban spaces.
