Optimizing water and nitrogen management boosts winter wheat yield significantly.
The study looked at how water and nitrogen affect ammonia loss and wheat yield. They tested different fertilizers, nitrogen levels, and irrigation amounts on winter wheat. They found that ammonia loss was highest with low irrigation and urea fertilizer. Proper water and nitrogen management reduced ammonia loss. Using organic manure led to higher wheat yields than urea. The best results were seen with 500mm irrigation and 180kg/ha of organic fertilizer. This study suggests that optimizing water and fertilizer use can increase wheat production in the Huang-Huai-Hai region.
