New wastewater treatment method reduces pollution and boosts methane production
An upflow anaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactor (AnDMBR) was tested for treating wastewater at room temperature with short retention times. The researchers found that stable removal of pollutants was achieved when the retention time was reduced from 8 hours to 2 hours, with methane production decreasing as the retention time decreased further. The membrane showed changes in composition with shorter retention times, indicating limitations in treatment efficiency beyond 2 hours.
