Landsat-8 Satellite Data Predicts Soil Moisture Levels with 95% Accuracy
Soil moisture is important for managing water and soil resources. This study used satellite data to estimate soil moisture in a city. They found that urban areas had higher temperatures and lower humidity. By analyzing satellite images, they created a model that can predict soil moisture with a very small error rate. The model showed a strong correlation between surface soil moisture and temperature and vegetation indices. This research shows that satellite data can be used to estimate soil moisture accurately over large areas.
