Southern China's Humid Region Facing Desert-Like Landscape Due to Extreme Land Degradation
Desertification is a big problem worldwide with serious consequences. This article discusses how extreme land degradation in humid areas of southern China can lead to desert-like landscapes. By comparing dry and humid areas, the study shows that human interference and natural factors can cause vegetation change, soil loss, and rock weathering. The researchers used on-the-spot investigations and satellite images to analyze the degradation process in red beds areas. The results suggest that the extreme land degradation in southern China may be similar to desertification seen in other regions, but more research is needed to confirm this.
