The Yellow River Delta's shoreline and channel changed over 40 years due to natural processes and human activities. The shoreline moved seaward but differently in two areas: one retreated inland while the other expanded towards the sea. The shape of the shoreline became more complex over time. Human actions will play a big role in the future changes of the Yellow River Delta.
