Brazil's Incineration of Waste Could Power 15% of Population, Needs Gov't Support
In Brazil, burning trash to make energy could help reduce the amount of waste in landfills and generate power for about 15% of the population. But for this to work, the government needs to step in and make it financially worthwhile by increasing energy prices. This study looked at how many people would need to use an incineration plant for it to be cost-effective, and found that only areas with high energy prices would benefit. So, if the government raises energy tariffs, incineration could be a good way to deal with trash and create energy in Brazil.
